2024/25 Winter Basketball - LITTLE TIGERS 2nd Grade Season Tip Off Clinic with varsity coaches/players will be on Saturday December 7th. All boys (3rd-6th) 9:30-11am, All Girls (3rd-6th) 11-12:30pm. The Middlebury Rec Department, Middlebury College, and the Middlebury Figure Skating Club are pleased to partner to offer classes for children ages 5-18, starting in October and ending with a non-competitive group Ice Show in February as part of the Middlebury College Winter Carnival.Registration will open Friday Aug 30th at 8:30 am
Lessons are at Middlebury College’s Chip Kenyon ‘85 Arena. All kids are grouped according to ability and coached at the level at which they are ready to learn following the US Figure Skating Association model. Instructors invite skaters to have fun while exploring the basics of skating. Starting in January, each group will learn a number to perform in Middlebury College’s Winter Carnival Ice Show in February, which marks the end of the skating lessons.Children between the ages of 5 and 18 years are welcome with their own skates. Figure skates encouraged for skaters aged 8 and up.Important: If you are registering siblings create an account but do not register family members. Please email Amber at apower@townofmiddlebury.org with the child(rens) name and level to have the 15% discount applied. Listed class times are the windows of when your sessions MAY be. Beginning and Intermediate groups skate for approximately 50 minutes. Advanced groups skate for approximately 1.5 hours. You will receive an email from the club confirming your practice time and times may vary the first few weeks as we work through balancing numbers and skill levels. Each day will focus on the importance of physical activity and exercise, sportsmanship, learning valuable skills all while making new friends. Each day a variety of indoor activities will be available including basketball, indoor soccer, floor hockey, capture the flag, kickball, and camper’s favorite dodgeball. If there is snow, we will be sledding. If you feel exhausted reading this - that is the point! For the artistically inclined, do not worry, there will be dedicated spaces for reading and an array of arts and craft activities. The week will end with a trip to Get-Air to jump and bounce around. Register: Starting Friday November 8th at 9:30am. Space will be limited to 40 participants.
