PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY before registering: Want to learn to figure skate? The Middlebury Rec Department, Middlebury College, and the Middlebury Figure Skating Club are pleased to partner to offer classes for children ages 5-18, starting in October and ending with a non-competitive group Ice Show in February as part of the Middlebury College Winter Carnival.
Registration will open Friday Aug 30th at 8:30 am
Lessons are at Middlebury College’s Chip Kenyon ‘85 Arena. All kids are grouped according to ability and coached at the level at which they are ready to learn following the US Figure Skating Association model. Instructors invite skaters to have fun while exploring the basics of skating. Starting in January, each group will learn a number to perform in Middlebury College’s Winter Carnival Ice Show in February, which marks the end of the skating lessons.
Children between the ages of 5 and 18 years are welcome with their own skates. Figure skates encouraged for skaters aged 8 and up.
Important: If you are registering siblings create an account but do not register family members. Please email Amber at apower@townofmiddlebury.org with the child(rens) name and level to have the 15% discount applied.
Listed class times are the windows of when your sessions MAY be. Beginning and Intermediate groups skate for approximately 50 minutes. Advanced groups skate for approximately 1.5 hours. You will receive an email from the club confirming your practice time and times may vary the first few weeks as we work through balancing numbers and skill levels. Thank you for your patience as we work through the beginning of the season!
